Paragon build?
I know what your thinking: go look at PvX you moron. But, PvX does not tell you which paragon build is the best in what situations. Currently, I'm at the Gate of Madness in NF and going into EotN soon. Do any of you have curtain build that they really liked or found were really good? Thanks!
P.S. I really prefer being on the defensive side of a paragon instead of Spear Attacks.

Imbagon.
If you're feeling gimmicky, browse this forum a bit and you should find posts about melee paragons. I posted a sword paragon build.
You can also try a stunning strike based build.
Sadly, I hate to admit paras have no other kind of builds. Making matters worse, para is my main :|

imbagon works great, or if there are alot of casters and another imbagon i go with a DA build where i can upkeep it just about permanently when using an essence of celerity, which i dont use that often

unfortunately, everything else is sub-par to imbagon, and you won't get any other answer here :/

With that sort of comment you'll ALWAYS get "omg go imbagon" as your only responses.
You mention Gate of Madness, the only thing I would mention about that is taking Wild Throw is definitely a good idea, to knock Shiro out of Battle Scars.
Paragon's only need minor tweaks to their builds to excel in different areas.

Step 1:
Make a monk.
Step 2:
Bring a Candy spear.
Step 3:
Bring Flurry.
Step 4:
Fill the rest of the bar with Prots and Heals.
That's pretty much a superior version of a paragon that does not do spear attacks.
If you just focus on one role of a hybrid class (a class that is able to provide offence AND defence) - your performance will always be sub-par to a class that is designed to fill that specific role.

Motivation skills are bloody slow , they have to take out casting time in many of them to be effective . When you try to use spear attacks and moti chants you are half of the time casting ( or even more ) and the other half attacking/switching target/buffing. There are so many things that need a little buff on Paragon Skills .... right now a full moti para is not worth. Spear+Leader+Command or Spear+Leader+moti are the choices.

lol, wtf?
spear of fury, anthem of flame, save yourselves, sunspear para skill, focused anger (elite), for great justice, aggressive, res sig. works well pretty much everywhere. only fails in 4man and 6man areas because energy is more difficult to maintain. u want at least 14 leadership, u can figure the rest of it out urself ;-)

Like I said, if the guy wants to do just support - he should just make a character that is build for that. In this case a monk. There is no point in having a paragon if you aren't going to run support AND damage. (And even if he runs Flurry on the monk - the monk will be better then a full-on support para. The monk just does support so much better that the only way for a para to compete is to bring in damage to negate the lack of support compared to a monk.)

this may not exactly be the answer u are looking for as u asked for a paragon build.. but if u had 3 necro heros with u running discordway and some cond / hex dealing henchmen with u.. it wouldnt matter what u carry.

Running a paragon main and then just falling back on discord is just plain stupidity.
Paragons work well together, bring a OOtV MM a Commandagon and use the Mot hero, Run an imba bar, a simple mop hero and bang a few monks in and your away, HM as well as NM.
Discord has already been proven to be less than optimal and as a paragon your not going to be aplying numerous conditions or hexes (weariness or flame) so go with your strengths.

I'm runing my Paragon like Imbagon, but a little diferent from the usual build [build=OQGjUumI6SKYxgAh1bWYXFpbqiA]. I use [Drunken Master] like IAS because is cheaper but Increase 10% less than [Agressive Refrain] and [Go for the eyes!] to recharge energy and to increase critical of the party. I try a few builds for pvp and work well, specially in AB and JQ, don't try hammergon in RA, neither the Axe build. Runing a Imbagon more 3 necro (2 discord and 1 spirit spam) make almost every place, very easy to clean, even in HM. I made yesterday, Gate of Pain, Gate of Desolation, Dzagonour Bastion, Rilohn Refuge and other missions with this combination and even in HM was very easy, really easy, I was concerned if Shiro died fast and need to take off my heroes from the shrines to complete bonus...
I believe that Imbagon could be the more useful build for paragons and an others are very inferior, but the Imbagon build can work only with 4 skills [Save yourselves!], [There's Nothing to Fear!], [Focused Anger] and any other IAS that you want, so, use your imagination to change the other 4 slots.
Try take a look in this topic of the forum (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10151254) there are many builds in there...
